The baboon, the hyena and the jackal all lived together. The hyena and the jackal went together to a far area to hunt a goat. But the baboon annoyed them by shouting and the goats all ran away. They agreed to kill the baboon to be free.

One day they went to the lion and told him what the baboon was doing and said, “Lord, you don’t have any shoes. Why not ask the baboon to make shoes for you?”

The lion agreed and asked the baboon to make shoes for him.

The baboon said, “Yes, I’ll make shoes but I need the skin of the hyena and the jackal.”

The lion kills both hyena and jackal and now the baboon is free.

So the baboon said, “Clean all the blood off them in the water,” and he pushed him into the lake.

ዝንጀሮ፣ ጅብና ተኩላ አብረው ይኖሩ ነበር፡፡ ጅብና ተኩላውም ፍየል ለማደን ወደ አንድ ሩቅ ስፍራ ሲሄዱ ዝንጀሮው ግን በጩኸቱ ስላስደነበራቸው ፍየሎቹ ሁሉ ሸሹ፡፡ ጅቡና ተኩላውም ነፃ ይሆኑ ዘንድ ዝንጀሮውን ሊገድሉት ወሰኑ፡፡

ከእለታት አንድ ቀን ወደ አንበሳው በመሄድ ዝንጀሮው ያደረጋቸውን ነገር ነግረውት “ጌታዬ ሆይ፣ አንተም ብትሆን ጫማ የለህምና ዝንጀሮው ጫማ እንዲሰራልህ ለምን አትጠይቀውም?” አሉት፡፡

አንበሳውም በሃሳቡ ተስማምቶ ዝንጀሮው ጫማ እንዲሰራለት ጠየቀው፡፡

ዝንጀሮውም “እሺ፣ ጫማዎቹን መስራት እችላለሁ፡፡ ነገር ግን የጅብና የተኩላ ቆዳ ያስፈልገኛል፡፡” አለው፡፡

አንበሳውም ጅቡንና ተኩላውን ገድሏቸው ዝንጀሮው ነፃ ሆነ፡፡ በመጨረሻም ዝንጀሮው አንበሳውን “በል አሁን ደማቸውን ውሃው ውስጥ እጠበው፡፡” ብሎት አንበሳው ሊያጥብ ጎንበስ ሲል ገፍትሮ ሃይቁ ውስጥ ከተተው፡፡
