The lion and the baboon lived together. The lion was like a father to the baboon. One day he ordered him to bring meat, but he brought maize.
“I don’t eat cereals, I eat meat. I don’t want this,” the lion said.
“I’m not as strong as you are,” the baboon said. “How can I get an animal for you?”
The lion said, “By hook or by crook bring me meat. I need it.”
Next time the baboon brings sorghum.
“I don’t eat cereals, I told you.”
Next time he ordered him he came with nothing.
“Did you bring me something?”
“Sir, I couldn’t find anything.”
The lion, knowing he would disobey, had prepared an animal’s hide on which he had smeared a poisonous ointment.
“Sleep on this hide,” said the lion. “It will make you as strong as I am. I used to sleep on it when I was little. Sleep there and become like me.”
The baboon thought it was true.
He slept on the hide and died and the lion went to hunt food in the forest.
አንበሳውና ዝንጀሮው
በኦይታ አሮ የተተረከ
አንድ አንበሳና አንድ ዝንጀሮ አብረው ይኖሩ ነበር፡፡ አንበሳውም ለዝንጀሮው እንደ አባት ሆኖ አብረው ሲኖሩ ከእለታት አንድ ቀን አንበሳው ዝንጀሮውን ስጋ እንዲያመጣ ሲያዘው ዝንጀሮው ስጋ ሳይሆን በቆሎ ይዞ መጣ፡፡
አንበሳውም “እኔ ጥራጥሬ አልበላም፡፡ እኔ የምበላው ስጋ ስለሆነ ይህንን አልበላም፡፡” አለው፡፡
ዝንጀሮውም “እኔ እንዳንተ ጠንካራ አይደለሁም፡፡ እንዴት እንስሳ ላመጣልህ እችላለሁ?” ሲለው አንበሳውም “እንደምንም ብለህ አሁን ስጋ ስለሚያስፈልገኝ ስጋ አምጣልኝ፡፡” አለው፡፡ ቀጥሎም ዝንጀሮው ገብስ ይዞለት መጣ፡፡
አንበሳውም “ጥራጥሬ እንደማልበላ ነግሬሃለሁ፡፡” ብሎ ሲጮህበት ዝንጀሮው “ጌታዬ፣ ሌላ ምንም ላገኝ አልቻልኩም፡፡” አለው፡፡
በዚህ ጊዜ አንበሳው ዝንጀሮው እንደማይታዘዝለት ስለገባው መርዝ የተቀባበት የእንስሳ ቆዳ አዘጋጅቶ ዝንጀሮውን “በል እዚህ ላይ ተኛ፡፡ ይህ እንደ እኔ እንድትጠነክር ይረዳሃል፡፡ እኔም በልጅነቴ እዚህ ላይ ተኝቼ ነው ያደኩትና አንተም እዚህ ላይ ተኛና እንደእኔ ጠንካራ ሁን፡፡” አለው፡፡
ዝንጀሮውም እውነት መስሎት ቆዳው ላይ ሲተኛ ሞተ፡፡ አንበሳውም ለአደን ወደ ጫካ ሄደ፡፡
